Audrey Fleischner
Bio & Expertise: Audrey is the co-founder of BetterEd Consulting and a former classroom teacher. Born and raised in NYC, she is a product of the city’s public school system (and proud of it!). Her progressive approach to education is founded in the belief that school encompasses much more than academic success, and should serve to foster a love of learning, self-advocacy, and resilience. At BetterEd she works to bridge the gap between home and school by providing holistic, transparent, and outcome-focused guidance that supports families in unlocking their child’s full potential. Audrey also specializes in helping families navigate K-12 admissions for NYC public and private schools, as well as the special education process.
Audrey holds a Dual Master’s Degree in General Education (1-6) and Students with Disabilities from Bank Street Graduate School of Education and spent over a decade as a classroom teacher and sports coach in both independent and public schools in New York City. In addition to her degrees, she is trained in the Orton-Gillinham approach to reading and writing for students with reading-based learning disabilities and has privately tutored students, including those with specific learning disabilities, across subject areas.
In addition to her role at BetterEd, Audrey is the Assistant Director at Camp Scatico, a sleepaway summer camp, where she works year round supporting new families and campers with the transition to camp. Across contexts, her values for working with children are rooted in fostering independence, personal passions, and social responsibility towards others and the larger world. She seeks to bring the spontaneous joys and magic of camp into childrens’ educational journeys.
Fun Fact: I have a pet turtle, Speedo, who I got in November of 1999!
