Emer Rattigan

Bio & Expertise: Emer brings over 18 years international experience of in-classroom education, as well as a wide range of education-focused qualifications specializing in neuro-diverse learning needs, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and expressive/receptive language disorders. Emer is an Associate of the Orton-Gillingham Academy, and has completed multiple writing courses by the Windward Teacher Training Institute in The Hochman Method®. This is in addition to her Masters in SEN (University College Dublin), Bachelor of Education Degree (Dublin City University), and Diplomas in Psychology & SEN (National University of Ireland, Maynooth).

Emer has experience of teaching and teacher training in three continents – Europe, Africa & North America – in public and private, urban and rural schools, offering unrivaled depth and holistic support to students and parents.

With individualized learning plans, Emer has helped hundreds of students to thrive academically. In addition to supporting literacy, I Emer has extensive experience with executive functioning and attentional needs. She also provides education consultancy to support and mentor parents, by applying strategic direction to the home-tutoring and school team.

As a mother of two, Emer began private tutoring and education consultancy in NY and NJ in 2018, and today provides a mix of in-person and virtual sessions to students in the US and internationally. As a dedicated educator, Emer equips her students with the fundamental, lifelong literacy skills and strategies to instill lasting confidence.

Location of Services: I offer both in-person and remote tuition in Manhattan, NY.

Fun Fact: My great grand aunt was one of the 712 people who survived the sinking of the Titanic!
