Heather Halverson
Bio & Expertise: Heather Halverson has been thrilled to work as a reading specialist for over 20 years at The Caedmon School on the Upper East Side of New York City. In her private practice as The Online Reading Specialist and founder of The Reading Room, Heather has realized her dream of offering an equity-based program that provides effective and affordable reading remediation for struggling readers. The Reading Room, her online reading program for Kindergarten through 5th-grade students, harnesses the power of her engaging teaching team, fun materials, and a structured reading approach to ensure consistent growth over time. Her team documents progress during every session to keep students motivated and shares this progress with families weekly. Heather holds a master's degree in education and special education. She has studied various structured reading approaches and has trained with The Dyslexia Training Institute, Lindamood-Bell LIPS, Lindamood Bell Seeing Stars, PAF, Lexia Core5, and S.P.I.R.E. Heather has received the prestigious Lexia LETRS grant, an honor that recognizes her commitment to advancing literacy education. The LETRS professional learning program spans two years, equipping educators with profound insights to become language and literacy experts grounded in the science of reading.
Fun Fact: Heather enjoys musical improv, making up songs in the moment, with her musical improv troupe "Duly Noted"!
