Jake Becker

Bio & Expertise: Jake Becker is a learning specialist with more than 15 years of experience serving the learning and developmental needs of students of all ages, with a speciality in upper middle school and high school. His New York-based private practice combines his extensive teaching and tutoring experience with an understanding of current advances in educational research and training. At its heart, his practice combines high-level literacy instruction with executive functioning coaching. Jake is a graduate of the Bank Street College of Education, with a dual Masters of Science in general and special education. His areas of expertise include reading comprehension, writing, executive functioning, and diverse content-area remediation. In addition, his undergraduate background in history imbues his practice with a wide-ranging knowledge of culture, literature, art, and politics. He is comfortable forming learning teams and regularly engages with schools, therapists, and other specialists who may be also working with his students. While retaining a holistic approach centered on student strengths, Jacob is also results-oriented and focused on student success at their school and beyond.  His ultimate goal is facilitating his students’ independence and the full realization of their abilities, using his up-to-date understanding of executive functioning as a foundation for helping his students maximize their strengths.
