Julie Hartman
Bio & Expertise: Julie Hartman is an experienced tutor with a rich background in education, having taught in New York City private schools for the past seven years, catering to students from grades K-5. She earned her double major in Human Development and English from Binghamton University, followed by two Masters Degrees in Childhood Education and Teaching Literacy from Bank Street College of Education. Currently, Julie teaches Fifth Grade at a prestigious private school in the city, while also running her own successful private tutoring company.
Julie's teaching philosophy centers around nurturing students to become independent, confident, and active learners who celebrate achievements, and advocate for themselves when faced with challenges. Drawing inspiration from her love for camp, where she served as a counselor, unit supervisor, and assistant director, Julie infuses each lesson with camp-energy and spirit. She firmly believes that children learn best in an environment where they feel safe to be themselves and have fun.
At Julie's tutoring sessions, students and their families can expect a personalized and goal-oriented approach. She skillfully weaves instruction and executive functioning skills into interactive games, shared reading experiences, and incorporates the students' individual interests, creating a dynamic learning environment that is both engaging and effective.
