Kathy Sussell

Bio & Expertise: Kathy Sussell, a New York City resident, student, and parent for over 50 years, is dedicated to helping teens, young adults, and parents navigate the challenges associated with ADHD and executive functioning disorders. In an age filled with distractions, Kathy empowers her clients to master crucial skills such as punctuality, time management, and project management, fostering success in school, work, and life. Kathy has supported a diverse range of clients for over 16 years, including many high school, college, and graduate school students.

Kathy's approach to ADHD coaching hinges on the belief that understanding your brain and fostering self-confidence are fundamental to success, irrespective of age or endeavor. She helps those with neurodiverse brains understand the way their brains work, and formulate strategies accordingly.

What distinguishes ADHD coaching from academic tutoring or psychotherapy? While tutoring focuses on academic excellence, ADHD coaching provides holistic support to address the underlying cognitive conditions often impeding academic success. Unlike psychotherapy, which emphasizes emotional processing and past traumas, ADHD coaching is action-oriented and future-focused, facilitating the cultivation of productive habits and goal-setting systems.

If you or your child have been diagnosed with ADHD (or exhibit symptoms without diagnosis), you might struggle with time management, planning, prioritizing, initiating and completing tasks, organization, and maintaining self-care routines. Having Kathy as your ADHD coach offers a lifeline - a dedicated professional helping you master these essential life skills, forming a solid foundation for success across all life domains.

With a B.A. in Psychology and a life coaching certification from NYU, Kathy studied ADHD/EF coaching with JST Coaching and Marydee Sklar. Kathy is committed to guiding you or your child on a transformative journey towards living effectively with ADHD. She is the co-author of "Managing Your ADHD: Tips and Solutions from A-Z"

Location: You can work with Kathy remotely, via phone or Zoom, or at her home office in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

Fun Fact:  Kathy is also a Certified Cat-Lady, and loves to incorporate Cat Therapy with her two fuzzy felines, Vera and Luther, for in her in-office sessions. (Cats and cat hair are respectfully removed for clients with allergies!)
