Katie Parker

Bio & Expertise: Katie Parker Futterman is an educator from New York. For the last six years, she has worked in the classroom and as a private tutor for students in grades K-5. Currently, Katie works at The Windward School on the Upper East Side while also tutoring students one-on-one in grades K through 5 in reading, writing, and executive functioning skills. Throughout her career, she has been a classroom teacher, grade team lead, and mentor teacher in grades 1 through 5. She earned a Master of Science in Childhood and Special Education from Touro College in Manhattan.

Katie is trained in the PAF Program for reading and spelling, a multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham-based program. Through private tutoring, she realized the importance of one-on-one student support and develops individualized lesson plans for each student. Katie enjoys forming positive relationships with her students to help them become successful learners.

As an educator, Katie believes that all students can succeed with the right guidance, specialized instruction, and encouragement. It is important to create a safe environment for students to become curious thinkers and self-advocates. Katie implements instruction that adheres to each student’s learning style through analyzing data and reflection. Her goal is to help motivate students to become confident and passionate about learning.
